RULES
Safety First:
Guns will not be loaded until you are the on deck shooter. You will not point an unloaded gun at anyone! Rifles and shotguns shall have the actions open except during use. Pistols shall be holstered, empty, and hammers down. Do not handle guns unnecessarily.
Guns:
All guns shall be of a pre 1900 style,either original or reproduction. Pistols shall be single action revolvers,.32 cal. or larger. Rifles shall be lever action and shall shoot a pistol caliber bullet,.25 cal. or larger. Shotguns shall be side by side double barrels without ejectors or 1897 pump shotgun with exposed hammer, or lever-action shotguns. 20 gauge minimum.
Bullets:
Bullets for pistol and rifle shall be lead only,not jacketed.Pistol velocity may not exceed 1000 fps. Rifle bullet velocity may not exceed 1400 fps. Shotgun shells must be lead shot only size 7 1/2 or smaller. Birdshot is fine.
Loading:
The on deck shooter will load their rifle and pistol in the loading area to the left of the firing area under the supervision of the next shooter. Shotguns may never be loaded before the start of the stage. Pistols shall be loaded with the specified number of rounds with the hammer down on an empty chamber. Rifles will be loaded with the specified number of rounds with the action closed on an empty chamber. Shotguns will be loaded only after the start of the stage and may be loaded with the maximum of two rounds only,including pump shotguns. All ammo must be fired during the stage. Shotguns and rifles will be left with the actions open.
Posses:
All shooting will be in a posse (squad) system. Each posse will have a leader responsible for the score sheets and interpreting the stage description and rules. Posse members will take turns running each other thru the stage. When a posse finishes a stage,it will move on to the next stage in order. When a posse has finished it's last stage it will dismantle the stage and load the targets and props into the trailer.
Scoring:
Scoring will be by total time. Pistol and rifle targets will be steel ringers. Shotgun targets will be either ringers or knockdowns.
Prizes:
Plaques will be awarded for first place and ribbons for second and thrid places. Prizes will be awarded only in classes with three or more shooters. There will also be door prizes awarded at each match. The winners will be drawn at the shooters meeting.
Dress:
Authentic cowboy or western dress is encouraged. At a minimum baseball caps,t-shirts,and tennis shoes will not be allowed. Eye and ear protection are required by all shooters and spectators.
Facilities:
We have a covered area on the rifle range,with out-house facilities near by. And lunch will be available after the match.
CLASSES:
Junior: 8 to 16 years old
Buckaroo age 13 and under may use 22 LR in pistols and rifle and 410 in the Shotgun
Duelist: Pistols with traditional fixed sights only, shot one handed unsupported.
Modern: Pistols with adjustable sights, shot free style(two handed).
Traditional: Pistols with fixed sights shot free style.
Black Powder: Traditional pistols,either percussion or cartridge. Shotgun and rifle must also use black powder.
49’er 49 years of age or older
Senior: 60 years of age or older. There is a Senior Ladies and a Senior Duelist category as well.
Elder Statesman 70 Years of age or older
Frontiersman
Gun Fighter: Must be qualified by the Kishwaukee Valley Regulators.
Ladies: Ladies may shoot any of the above classes
